Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework

For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Insert the installation disc of Hallmark 2008.
  • Double click My Computer desktop icon, open your DVD ROM Drive.
  • Open the following directory:

    X:\Hallmark\Program Files\Creative Home\Hallmark Card Studio
    (x: represents your DVD ROM Drive letter)
  • Right click “DotNetFX3.exe” file, select Run as administrator.
  • Install the Microsoft .NET Framework and then reboot your system. Eject the installation disc.

Download the Missing File

Ntdll.dll error appears because the file is missing. Simply download it and paste in the target directory mentioned below.

For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Download the file from the Internet.
  • Copy the downloaded file and paste it in the following folders:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll
    C:\Windows\System32\ntdll.dll

Re-register DLL File

Registry entries of the following DLL file can be corrupt. Unregister and re-register the DLL file as shown under:

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  • Press Windows Key + X simultaneously.
  • Click “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
  • Type the following commands-

    Regsvr32 ntdll.dll /u
    Regsvr32 ntdll.dll
  • After the file is successfully unregistered and reregistered type “EXIT” and press ENTER.
  • Restart the PC.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  • Click the Start button.
  • Point to All Programs | Accessories.
  • Right click Command Prompt, select Run as administrator.
  • Follow Steps 3-5 given in above paragraph for Windows 8 users.

Enable Software Rendering Feature

There are two choices, viz. enable software rendering or GPU rendering. As default, the former is disabled and the latter is enabled. Follow the steps given below:

For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Click the Settings icon at the extreme right corner of your screen.
  • Click Internet Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Under “Accelerated graphics” category, check-up the box named “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering”.
  • Click Apply | OK.

Replace Scratched/ Damaged Installation Disc

The installation disc can be scratched/damaged. Eject the disc. If the disc is too scratched, buy a new one. If the scratches are ignorable, clean the disc using a soft piece of cloth.

Defective IDE/ EIDE Cables

Ensure that the IDE/ EIDE cables of your hard disk are not defective. A defective cable causes obstacles in smooth transfer of data/ information. In such a case, you’ll have to purchase a new cable and replace the old one.

Reinstall Mathematica

Mathematica application can be corrupt. Uninstall it through the Uninstaller wizard, remove any folders that are left on your hard disk and then install it again.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  • Press Windows Key + X simultaneously.
  • Click Programs and Features.
  • Right click “Mathematica” and select Uninstall.
  • Follow the uninstaller wizard and reboot.
  • Double click My Computer desktop icon.
  • Delete the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica
  • Download a fresh version from official website.
  • Run the setup as administrator and follow installer instructions.

For Earlier Versions:

  • Click Start | Control Panel.
  • Click Programs | Uninstall a Program.
  • Follow Steps 3-8 from the paragraph given for Windows 8.1/ 8 users.

Unblock Mathematica from DEP Security Feature

Mathematica software might be blocked by Data Execution Prevention (DEP). Configure DEP settings to unblock the application.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  • Press Windows Key + R.
  • Type the following command:

    sysdm.cpl
  • Click OK.
  • In the new dialog click Advanced tab.
  • Click Settings button under Performance.
  • Click Data Execution Prevention tab.
  • Select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.
  • Click Add button.
  • Browse and locate the following files:

    C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\8.0\SystemFiles\FrontEndBinaries\Windows\mathematica.exe
    C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\8.0\SystemFiles\FrontEndBinaries\Windows-x86-64\mathematica.exe
  • Click OK | OK.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  • Right click My Computer desktop icon.
  • Select Properties.
  • Click “Advanced system settings” link.
  • Follow Steps 4-10 from the paragraph given for Windows 8.1/ 8 users.

Delete Incompatible Acrobat Plug-Ins

Adobe Acrobat runs with couple of plug-ins. Some recently installed plug-ins might have compatibility issues. Run Acrobat without loading plug-ins and if it works fine you’ll need to remove the plug-ins.

For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • While opening Adobe Acrobat press and hold the Shift key of your keyboard.
  • Adobe Acrobat will load without loading its plug-ins. Release the key once the workspace appears.
  • Test it for some time to check whether Ntdll.dll error appears again. If it doesn’t appear it means one or more plug-ins is not working properly. Continue with Step 4.
  • Exit Adobe Acrobat.
  • Double click My Computer desktop shortcut, open the following directory:

  • Delete all files and sub folders from the “plug_ins” directory.
